More sunshine. Happy Tuesday . Both skirt and top were thrifted. The top was a £1 from @shopwithsueryder and the skirt was £3.75 from @mindcharity. I love the cheesecloth material of both. So cool for work in this hot weather. I’ve got a feeling most of today will be spent in a bikini (my fave outfit of all time ) though as I’m only in work for a few hours. Have a fab day ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Here’s what I’ve learned about life from thrifting: you learn to see possibility and potential.
What might appear to be old clothes from decades past to some, may be the perfect vintage jumpsuit and the on point 90s flannel. What might appear to be used and discarded stuff of no value to some, may be the affordable treasure of a broken-in leather purse with the perfect amount of pockets or the barely worn sunglasses that miraculously still have their case. What might appear to be broken and unusable to some, may be the perfect project to another with just a few stitches, a new button, or a quick hem.
When we learn to see ourselves and our stuff through the lens of potential, anything is possible. Limitations are few. And there’s creativity, self-expression, and connection in abundance.
This skirt was rescued from the “damage goods” bin at ModCloth in SoHo. This Zara shirt was discovered among the racks at a Salvation Army.
I don’t want to own more than I need, or more than I’m able to appreciate and use. That doesn’t mean I’m a minimalist, as I still very much enjoy collecting mugs (if I find one I love - not just for the sake of it) and supporting small businesses that maintains a craft/skill. I still enjoy owning things, but not when I feel owned by them. I want what I own to have good backstories. Like this mug from the 70s, being a part of a set I had my eyes on for a while. And a cherished friend helped me get them. (Still one of my favorite non-clothing thrift/second hand finds next to my owl or pumpkin mug.)

Do you like to re-home items others didn’t see the same value in? What do you usually look for when buying second hand/thrifted/vintage? I struggle finding clothes due to the years of perfume wear on certain items + size wise (I’m on the tiny side of human). But I occasionally find something I need or appreciate a lot. Again, I try to not get more than I need or am able to appreciate. Mugs being my weakness, as I keep imagining the people who’s had hot drinks out of the mugs before me. I wonder what stories and memories they have lived through.
