Some days you’re vacuuming stale bunny crackers and a million tiny rocks out of the car for hours because you’re starting to worry the health department might come and declare it unfit for human use and it seems like the whole world is doing something more interesting than you. And you start to thinking you might be bad at life and you’re wondering to yourself if everybody else is spending their morning this sweaty and cross at the people they love. And then sometimes, on the exact same day in fact, you bake a strawberry cake and eat a picnic for supper outside amongst the hydrangeas that grow under the window. And there’s a moment when, just as the light starts to dip, where you’re laying down looking up at the gently swaying trees and your son is running to your arms shouting your name with the most magical smile on his face that you think, remember this. Remember every single tiny speck of this moment. Breathe it in and never let it stop. Remember the pink of his cheeks and the pitch of his giggle and the way the warm breeze felt on tired limbs and the weight of him in your arms. Make it last forever. And it feels so perfect that you wonder how a human heart can possibly hold so much love in it. And as the day draws to a close you think to yourself in the quiet of the house how funny it is that one day can hold both those feelings and everything in between. How funny and perfectly human it all is to be just as you are. And how you’re grateful for both stale crackers and plump strawberries.

Baby girl’s nursery is finally coming together! I did a little update on my story earlier for those of you that want to see the progress. I am officially 37 weeks today which is kind of blowing my mind! I guess it’s time to install the newborn car seat & pack a hospital bag?! It’s so funny how different the second pregnancy can be...I think I was like 20 weeks with Weston & his nursery was finished. How far along were you when you were finally READY for baby to come?! (if that’s even possible)

INFANT SLEEP REGRESSIONS: Crying at putdown. Multiple night wakings. Short naps? Sound familiar yet? If your baby is over 4+ months, it’s likely that you’ve already lived through one of the baby sleep regressions that rock a child’s sleep multiple times in the first two years. Here’s a quick snapshot of what to expect in baby’s first year (save this post so you can refer back later, trust me): - 4️⃣ MONTH REGRESSION: Occurs around 3-4 months of age, night wakings increase, short cat naps are incredibly common. Baby feeds less during the day due to distraction, hungrier at night as a result. This regression is highly due to cognitive advancements (aka your baby becoming smarter!) Around 70-80% of children are affected by this baby sleep regression. - 8️⃣ MONTH REGRESSION: Occurs around 8-9 months of age, where putdown at naps can become more difficult, bedtime crying can begin, baby still possibly waking up for a feed or extremely early in the morning (before 6am). Around 50% of children are affected by this particular regression, and it can occur earlier/later in conjunction with gross motor developments. - 1️⃣2️⃣ MONTH REGRESSION: Occurs right around when your child begins to walk. Nap battles and bedtime battles increase. LONG night wakings occur. Early rising before 6am. Naps are super short or super long, causing the schedule to be messed up for the day. About 80% of children are affected by this regression. - Many families will become “stuck” in the vicious cycle of one of these regressions, picking up new habits to help baby fall back asleep that they previously didn’t have to do (“Baby slept great at 3 months but now sleeps awful!”).
