I usually share some sort of coaching tidbit on Tuesdays, so here goes the biggest lesson from this weekend - staying in the moment and pushing through pays off. . These photos and videos are from our adventure to the iron mine on Sunday. It started like any other - I left before everyone else because JJ was cranky and I knew he’d fall asleep in the car if we went for a drive. We barely got over the hill before he was out like a light, so I turned around and got back to camp just as everyone was heading to the iron mine, so I just fell into line behind them. Just before we reached our destination, a rock punctured the left front tire on my Acadia ‍♀️. Now, this could’ve ruined the day, but it didn’t - because I chose not to let it. . While Dr. G.I. Josh cut wood for the fire, I changed the tire with a key assist from Auntie Tessa (@ameadowlarksings) . Then we all hiked over the hill to the gold fish pond. My watch tells me that jaunt over the hill was the equivalent of 15 flights of stairs. Worth it! . After we got back to camp, some redneck engineering saved the tire and the day. Dr. G.I. Josh found a tire shop open, and the Acadia lives to take us on another adventure. . Here’s the takeaway - I didn’t let the flat tire ruin the day, or even the moment, I just did the next thing that needed to be done, then the next after that, and the next after that. It’s not rocket science! . These are just a few of the moments from that afternoon. When we were done playing everyone was sweaty and dirty and happy. And I guarantee the boys won’t remember the flat tire - especially JJ who slept through the whole thing. . . First and last photo credit: @ameadowlarksings . . It’s fitting that her middle name is Grace because she gives me so much of it! I have realized that during Luke’s naps.... I’ve been giving it all in my garden and that has always been “our” time. So today I am going to do better. She will forever be the light of my life! ☀️

I am the primary caregiver but I’m not the only caregiver. Just because I’ve read all the books doesn’t mean I have all the answers. I have to consciously remind myself to let Jack parent. To not ask him what he fed Leon for lunch while I was out running errands. To not take Leon from his arms when he’s trying to comfort him after a fall. To not pop my head in during bathtime just to check how everything is going. I don’t know why I do these things, they are absolutely unnecessary. He’s overprotective and he’s incredibly proud. He’s an excellent dad. I just have to give him the space to be one. #honestmotherhood #dontforgetdads
