It is important to me to share the good AND the real; the ups AND the loop-de-loops; the wins AND the runner-up moments. I am a major work in progress, and through my newfound vulnerability, I am finding my way on a path of genuine connection, openness, and opportunity that I could have never dreamed of. .. .. Bugambilia This plant will forever remind me of my parents home and growing up. My father has always been an avid plant grower and loves being outside and nurturing things. It’s always been a hobby and a great love of his. I knew I had to get this shot of Hailee outside their house with it. After more than three decades my parents have chosen to move from the home we once called ours. It’s bittersweet but I am so proud of them. They’ve talked about it for years and now after retirement they are finally able to do so. My dad came from nothing, born in McAllen, TX and raised in Mexico selling chicle’ and running barefoot in the streets. He was able to build a life for us and enlisted in the military where he met my mother, and later went on to serve in Customs as a K-9 officer. I will forever be greatful for his hard work and efforts. It gave me my life, it is why I am here today, and it is why my daughter can now stand next to this Bugambilia plant and aspire to be anything she wants to be in her future. . . I admit. I was not the least bit happy when my son and I first relocated to Vegas. Field Museum... the Art Institute... and more.
