Without the correct amount of calories, your body may not be losing any weight at all no matter how many hours you put in the gym. The better and more accurate your diet is, the more effectively you will lose weight. Next, you want to make sure you take strength training just as serious as when you were bulking. The aim is to never get weaker. Obviously, when dieting you WILL get weaker, which is totally normal. The trick is, the longer you are able to stick to a certain weight before having to lower weight, the more muscle you will be able to retain. Furthermore, cardio is an excellent tool to assist you weight loss. Doing cardio means, losing more calories, hence creating a larger calorie deficit. This also means that if you’d like to eat more when dieting, simply add more cardio! ————— If your goal is to build solid muscle mass and go on a bulk, strength training will have to be your main focus. You want to make sure you’re progressing every week, in either reps, sets or volume. This way, you know for sure whether or not you are making progress/gaining muscle. Furthermore, nutrition also plays a vital role when it comes to building muscle. Only when being in a caloric surplus and consuming sufficient protein, you are then able to gain muscle. If your nutrition is lacking, you won’t be able to gain muscle, no matter how hard you work. Finally, in order for your muscle to grow, you will need to focus on resting well and getting enough sleep. Whey or Casein protein?" - Instead of asking which one is better in general, we should ask which one is better for certain situations. - WHEY PROTEIN is a protein powder that digests in the body quickly, meaning that whey might be better suited to have either before, during or after workouts. It will supply amino acids to your muscles very quickly. - CASEIN PROTEIN is a protein powder that digests in the body slowly (normally takes 5-7 hours to digest), meaning that casein might be better to take before bed, as it will continue supplying amino acids to the muscles while you sleep, which is good because when sleeping, you are going a long time without food. - So, simply put, one is not better than the other overall. But one may be better than the other depending on the situation. So if it's around pre/intra/post workout, go with WHEY. Obviously if you’re REALLY focusing on losing weight, you’re best bet is to weigh your food so that you know EXACTLY what you’re putting in your body. Sometimes this isn’t easy though and you’ve got to decide on portions on the fly, so I’d recommend saving this for future reference . Don’t worry about the calories in vegetables - they are mostly water and vitamins . & - @P.T.Pete / !! . Slow or fast that is the question. I’m sure you’ve heard people say one is better than the other but it really depends on the context you’re talking about. They are both great in specific situations and don’t let anyone else tell you either wise . If you are trying to lose fat and your calories aren’t as high as they would normally be, choosing more slow digestion options 80 percent of the time is the key to not going over your calories. On the other hand if you are in a calorie surplus trying to gain lean muscle, fast digesting food will help you get more calories in without feeling full all the time . I would apply the 80/20 rule to fast vs slow digestion in a calorie deficit and a 70/30 rule to when you’re in a calorie surplus . My next group of online clients starts on April 5th.
