I was talking to a friend yesterday who is having a difficult time starting a family. I told her I could relate with my extended season of singleness - to that feeling of not being able to make happen what your heart wants so much, because you know it’s just not God’s timing yet. In that moment, I felt such peace. Sitting in a giant performance hall, listening to an orchestra tune up, but it was as if all that internal struggling, the prayers of anguish, the wrestling with God, the questions... all of it came to a still, silent rest.⠀ ⠀ Because maybe it just isn't time for that baby to come into this world. ⠀ Just like it isn't time for that promotion or that relationship or that move or that season of life or whatever else you’re praying so hard, so long for. ⠀ ⠀ Friend, know what was meant for you will be put into your life by God Himself in the appointed time. Not a minute sooner. Not a second later. For everything under the sun has its time and its season. ⠀ ⠀ That same night, I opened up my Bible to where I stopped in my annual reading schedule. 1 Samuel 8-9.⠀ ⠀ Saul walks into a dinner, following a prophet his servant recommended on his way home from searching for his father’s lost donkeys. A random stop in a random city, not knowing his life would change forever. ⠀ ⠀ As the cook served him, he said “Here it is, what was kept back. It was set part for you. Eat; for UNTIL THIS TIME it has been kept for you, since I invited the people.” (1 Sam. 9:24). ⠀ ⠀ The words leapt of the page. They might as well have been highlighted in neon yellow and glowing. I remembered the symphony hall. Those words. That peace. ⠀ ⠀ I knew it to be true. What was meant for me was kept back for me by God Himself. Long before I even knew what I wanted, it was set apart apart for me until the appointed time. Forseen and provided for. Without my knowledge or my meddling. ⠀ ⠀ For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay (Hab. 2:3‬). Keep hoping, friend. Keep praying. Keep asking. ❤️

Being self-employed can be so stressful at times. You have to think of everything, set up all the meetings, make sure deadlines are met, be responsible for whatever happens, and keep everyone happy. Plus you have to think about your family, your free time, and self-care. It can be tricky to balance it all! But what’s so awesome is that every day is different. Like today, I got to work on training for Pure Barre, record a new podcast episode with @sarahschraderdesign and our guest @martinaglows, photograph some awesome clothes from @loveloft_bayparksquare, and edited a family shoot from yesterday. Because I can control my schedule (for the most part,) that means I could take a break in the middle of the day to enjoy the gorgeous weather with some yummy @lacroixwater.☀️ How cool is that?! So if you’re feeling overwhelmed or weighed down by your workload, think of the good times and the happy moments. Think of how lucky you are to live this life. Anyone out there ever feel like you just can’t make everyone happy? We can get pretty stressed out when we feel like we fail to meet others’ expectations for us. But, it doesn’t stop there. Sometimes we get discouraged or afraid to face life because we fail to meet the expectations we place on ourselves. We end up defining ourselves by our failures. . But friend, you are not what you do. You are not how you feel, or what you struggle with, or even what you have accomplished. You are who God says you are. And, He says you are His workmanship (Ephesians 2:10) and more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). So, you no longer need to define yourself by others’ expectations or even your own.
