I continue to revisit this wine with great pleasure and fondness. Spontaneous fermentation, ancestral method sparkling wine, Demeter certified and crafted with zero additives not even sulphur. . Dark Plums, black berries, forest berries, moss, fallen leaves and a touch of tar on the back of the palate. Rich in flavor with a rustic edge. This sparkler is charmingly sweet on the midpalate yet finishes fairly dry as soft tannins linger across the tongue and cheeks.

What do you do when your owl falls out of its owl box?⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ We had to ask that question recently. We called the local animal services department that explained sometimes when the kids feel grown up their first flight doesn't go so well. In nature, they have no choice but to try to fly from the ground. When humans are involved, we just pick them up and put it back in the box.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ When we did we noticed another owl in the box, we put a camera to the opening, took a picture and wow! A whole family nested in the box. And this is just 1 of 42 owl boxes on the vineyard! Can you count how many owls there are? Exactly one year ago we moved into our little paradise. Working everyday to make it more beautiful: taking good care of the vines, planting trees and starting a veggie garden. After 2 cats, 5 chickens and 1 dog we will extend the family with sheep, ducks and goats. Happy about what’s coming!!

Goats in their element Yesterday, Emerson and I were able to escape the Hudson Valley to the North Shore beaches to visit family. We are thankful to have helpful neighbors mind the farm for a night. The trip was well needed but we are happy to get back home to these beautiful beings.

The only things in this that weren’t produced in are the , , and , and I am damn proud of that! I passed up the $1.79/lb organic from Chile, and the from South Africa, and loaded up on , , and plums instead for the sake of using less fossil fuels. The first time I calculated my carbon footprint was for the sustainability class I took @naropau in 2009. Your carbon foot print is the amount of carbon dioxide and carbon compounds produced by your use of fossil fuels...your direct contribution to warming. In one mind blowing and ego crushing moment, my whole life changed. I have been working to reduce my carbon footprint ever since. If you haven’t yet, I highly suggest checking out an online carbon footprint calculator. Here are some of my top tips for reducing your carbon footprint. 1. Be a #minimalist. If you can comfortably live without it, you probably should. 2. Grow or sustainability forage some of your food. 3. Support #biodynamicfarming practices. 4. Fill your with foods that are organic, local, and in season. 5. Avoid plastic, styrofoam, and single use packaging as much as possible. 6. Repair, reuse, repurpose, and donate. 7. Purchase refurbished, used, and thrift. 8. Make sure to always carry a water bottle, and bring your own bags. 9. Use @simple_ecology bags for shopping in the produce section, and bulk bins. 10.
