Quickly posting before I change my mind. I hate being in front of the camera, in the last couple of years I've put on 5 stone and I just can't seem to get in the head space to lose the weight again and I generally look awful in pictures. This is taken at an angle that hides my multiple chins however I still feel a bit sick posting it . Isabelle isn't feeding in this picture, she's actually fallen asleep. I have barely any pictures of us feeding as I have to use both of my hands due to her latch still being awful at nearly 6months however I still love it.... I love the way her arms and tiny little hands hold onto me as she falls asleep whilst feeding

How amazing is this?

Colostrum is the first milk your body starts producing around 3-4 months of pregnancy. It's full of antibodies and immunoglobulins, which not only help protect newborns as they come into our world of bacteria and viruses, but also has a laxative effect that helps them expel the tarry first stools called meconium.
║
Your colostrum can vary from the a golden color to clear and be a bit thick/sticky.
It is low in volume but high in concentrate nutrition for your newborn. It’s measured in teaspoons, not in ounces.
║
This is what your baby gets from your breasts for the first 3-4 days of life until your mature milk comes in.
║
The misconception is that babies need ounces upon ounces of milk immediately upon birth and mothers feel pressure to formula feed.
║
Babies tummies are the size of a marble upon birth, so the low amounts of colostrum in your breasts are very filling and satisfying to your baby.
║
Studies of large numbers of breastfed babies suggest that on average babies consume:
❤️1/2 ounce of colostrum per feeding in the first 24 hours
❤️2/3 ounce of colostrum per feeding by 48 hours
❤️1 ounce of colostrum per feeding by 72 hours, when mature milk production begins

For those of you who are breastfeeding but also want your baby to take a bottle…here are some tips. Many babies will initially resist accepting a bottle, which can be stressful and frustrating.
•
Don’t force the nipple in your baby’s mouth. Let her explore it, lick it, and eventually pop it in her mouth.
•
Put some breastmilk on the outside of the nipple.
•
Let someone who your baby knows well, offer him the bottle.
•
Try giving your baby a bottle when he’s in a good mood. In other words, not when he’s starving. His mood will influence his willingness to try something new.
•
Give the bottle as a second course. In other words, try giving the bottle after giving your baby one breast first.
•
With my fourth child, I returned to work part-time within a few months, and so I needed Madison to take an occasional bottle. But she resisted all my tips and tricks. What finally worked was putting her in a front-facing carrier and offering her a bottle as we walked around. We were able to stop this routine after a few successful walks and she then enjoyed the bottle without coaxing.

If you experienced this, share your tricks below and help another mama who may be struggling with this right now!

Gigantic breast-shaped balloons are appearing all over London as part of a campaign highlighting the stigma that mothers breastfeeding in public still face in the British capital.
The goal of the #FreetheFeed campaign, which first made headlines with its head-turning inflatable boobs in 2017, is to “remove the shame and sexualization around [breastfeeding],” according to the movement’s founder, Ana Balarin, the executive creative director of advertising agency Mother London.
•
“Breastfeeding and pumping is an inherent part of having a small baby,” Balarin told Yahoo Lifestyle. “It literally comes with the package.” •
The breast balloons, the smallest of which are ten feet tall, were designed by Mother London in a range of skin tones, and have been appearing on buildings, benches, and other public spaces across London since March 26, the day the U.K. celebrates Mother’s Day. According to UNICEF, breastfeeding rates in the U.K. are among the lowest in the world. A 2019 U.K. survey of 2,000 British women found that one in three had been forced to pump their milk in a bathroom while at work. More than half of respondents said their employers showed little to no support for breastfeeding mothers.
Joining the #FreetheFeed campaign this year was Elvie, a U.K. femtech firm that has developed a silent wearable breast pump that they hope will make the pumping process easier for mothers.
