No YOU’RE overexcited after winning a plant at #Loto Well that was a fun experience, after over 4.5 hours of #frenchloto and becoming lightning fast at number recognition (through pure necessity really) we won ourselves a plant and it couldn’t have been a better afternoon. I’ve never seen so many people in our village! This week has been a bit of a breakthrough week for us, what with successfully obtaining our quitus fiscal, I made a phone reservation for Loto (French phone-calls still scare me!) G got his SIRET, I got my full birth certificate translated by a sworn translator, G booked the car in for maintenance in French and without me and we had our first wood delivery oh, and we hung most of our pictures and rejigged the office, OH, and we planted our potatoes. It has been a great week! And now I’m spent. Our little #frenchhouse is in need of painting, shutter renovation and an overhaul of the garden, and don’t even start me on the interior decoration - but im trying not to fall too hard into the trap of trying to get everything done yesterday. I’m working, the weather is lovely, we are slowly picking up the tools we need to do jobs ourselves and we’re going to french class each week. Alongside trying to get all of our #Brexit related paperwork in order that feels like enough for now. So when I catch myself with some of the old self-punishing thinking that I used to subject myself to before I became a therapist, throwing myself into jobs until I had no energy left to enjoy the product of my work, I stop myself. And nowadays usually have a glass of wine and relax. I am so, so, so glad to have relearned this skill, because for me I think it makes the difference between a content life and an unhappy one. Never mind my spirit animal, here’s my spiritual home we took a little trip to @noz_officiel earlier this week and el bargains did flow swipe for snaps of a few: • vegan smoked salmon for 0.90€! (I bought 5) • vegetable samosa .• 2.5kg of hash browns (I have no shame!) And I’m sure lots more, apple sirop comes to mind. We popped out for a rainy easter walk today at the lake. It was quiet, we took a couple of coffees and then pootled around in the car looking at houses that are for sale and admiring the new leaves on the trees. Does anyone else buy the giant bags of bread at the end of the day in the big supermarkets? This one was 2€ and since we always end up shopping in @leclerc right up until closing time we tend to be around for the bargains. I know that lots of people feed this bread to their animals since it’s about to go over but we inherited sooo many fridge-freezers when we moved in ‍♀️ that we decided to freeze it for re-baking with a little water to steam it back to life as needed. We’ve tidied up our current “patio” area and added a garden umbrella from @carrefourfrance - they’re on offer for 39,99€ at the moment and seem pretty sturdy, so if you’re in the market for one I recommend it I burn in about 11 seconds flat so this is an investment for me We picked this up today along with a restock of our #mousseux fridge ready for some special visitors arriving this weekend. We tied back the huge rambling rose next to our chairs and dusted off the barbecue. Thanks all for your lovely comments on my last blog post, I think I was having a bit of a panic about money, but I’ve had lots of tips from everyone and this month is my most successful month as a micro entrepreneur so far, so I think it’s time to put aside that panic and focus on the all good stuff. A great way to do that today was to take our “must-buy” list to @emmaus87 and try to pick up some of the things we really need for next to nothing. We were not disappointed.
