Then I sceptically Google things and come up with a document, go back and they admit that it couldn’t go ahead without it. No YOU’RE overexcited after winning a plant at #Loto Well that was a fun experience, after over 4.5 hours of #frenchloto and becoming lightning fast at number recognition (through pure necessity really) we won ourselves a plant and it couldn’t have been a better afternoon. I’ve never seen so many people in our village! This week has been a bit of a breakthrough week for us, what with successfully obtaining our quitus fiscal, I made a phone reservation for Loto (French phone-calls still scare me!) G got his SIRET, I got my full birth certificate translated by a sworn translator, G booked the car in for maintenance in French and without me and we had our first wood delivery oh, and we hung most of our pictures and rejigged the office, OH, and we planted our potatoes. It has been a great week! And now I’m spent. Last night’s spiky visitor came hunting the biggest slug on our doorstep, and he was made most welcome - I love hedgehogs! We have seen two since we have been here very close to our house. Does anyone else buy the giant bags of bread at the end of the day in the big supermarkets? This one was 2€ and since we always end up shopping in @leclerc right up until closing time we tend to be around for the bargains. I know that lots of people feed this bread to their animals since it’s about to go over but we inherited sooo many fridge-freezers when we moved in ‍♀️ that we decided to freeze it for re-baking with a little water to steam it back to life as needed. I’m up early - because cats - so I nipped out to the chaufferie to manually put the boiler on for hot water (no, still haven’t got the timer fixed) and noticed these little beauts on their way to the hottest summer they’ve ever known (I hope). • The wedding planning has begun in earnest now, despite not knowing what date it will be for sure (the mairie like keeping us on our toes) - did you know that it’s free to marry in France? Right up my frugal alley ‍♀️ this is useful because I’m now looking at honeymoon locations and so we have a little more room in the budget. I didn’t have a honeymoon the first time I got married (oui, je suis divorcée ) which should have been a big sign that union wasn’t going to last! This time round we like each other enough to go on holiday after we are bound together legally, so if anyone has any lovely suggestions for honeymoon locations I’d love to hear them! Our little #frenchhouse is in need of painting, shutter renovation and an overhaul of the garden, and don’t even start me on the interior decoration - but im trying not to fall too hard into the trap of trying to get everything done yesterday. I’m working, the weather is lovely, we are slowly picking up the tools we need to do jobs ourselves and we’re going to french class each week. Alongside trying to get all of our #Brexit related paperwork in order that feels like enough for now. So when I catch myself with some of the old self-punishing thinking that I used to subject myself to before I became a therapist, throwing myself into jobs until I had no energy left to enjoy the product of my work, I stop myself. And nowadays usually have a glass of wine and relax. I am so, so, so glad to have relearned this skill, because for me I think it makes the difference between a content life and an unhappy one.
