Sneaky, Sneaky Pumper
.
.
.
You all know I love wearing my pumper & . But this weekend, wasn’t about my pumper or my diabetes. It was about my two amazing friends getting married and I didn’t want my pumper stealing the show from the beautiful bride✨
-
Leading up to the big day, I was wondering where I should wear my pump with my bridesmaid dress. I wanted to be able to access it quickly in case of an emergency but I didn’t want it to draw attention as I was walking down the aisle.
-
My sister got me this pump holder for Christmas and it was the first time I wore it. ! I was able to walk down the aisle, sweat and dance the night away without it slipping. I even forgot it was there most of the time This spot was the PERFECT location for the big day.
-
I highly recommend this spot around the thigh if you’re in the same boat as me and wondering where you should put your pump. Gooey doesn’t remember where she got it but she typed in “ ” into Amazon and found this one.
.
.
.
I’ve also heard of others using a thick headband to secure the pump around the thigh. Do you have any suggestions on where to wear your pumper for the big day? Please feel free to share with us all if you have nifty tricks

Posted @withrepost • @heart.health.nutritionist While we are on the topic of fish, let’s discuss mercury.
Most people associate avoidance of mercury foods with pregnant women, but it may go beyond that.
❤️ Research is surfacing that methyl mercury (the source found primarily in seafood and fish we eat) may increase risk of heart attacks in a linear way – the more methyl mercury you eat, the higher the risk of heart attacks. Study in comments.
❤️ More research is needed in minority populations and for exact dose measurements but it’s still important to take caution.
Why may this be?
⭕️ It has been proposed that methyl mercury may cause oxidative stress that contributes to atherosclerosis formation – the top reason for heart attack occurance.
⭕️ Oxidative stress causes blood vessel damage by promoting inflammation and narrowing of the blood vessels.
⭕️ Oxidative stress contributes to atherosclerosis, aka plaque development, plaque rupture and hypertension.
⭕️ Studies have shown that high levels of methyl mercury increases intima-media thickness of the carotid artery, a measurement to diagnose the extent of atherosclerotic disease.
⭐️ I would stick to the high omega-3 rich fish that are low in methyl mercury, such as wild salmon, sardines, herring (if you can find it without the cream sauce) and Atlantic mackerel 2-3x per week.
⭐️ Know where your fish is coming from, use www.seafoodwatch.org as a good resource.

Since i was traveling in Mexico, i wasn’t able to post this on July 5th because I was busy living in the moment offline celebrating my diaversary☀️ BUT I couldn’t forget to post about this special day!
-
Crazy to think exactly today 5 years ago, my life changed forever. Today is my FIFTH diaversary! I will never ever forget just five years ago I was in a foreign ICU hospital bed near death in DKA sailing in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea Being diagnosed abroad, I remember buying my first glucose meter at a pharmacy in Italy and desperately trying to read the Italian instructions of how to use it!! I remember constantlyyyy crying my eyes out, filled with anger, and depressed thinking my life was over. In those moments in the hospital, I would have never of thought that I would be where I am today with all that i have done with this disease. In just 5 years and 12 countries, 4 continents, and 27 states later- I’m still doing all the things i love, exploring new things, and globetrotting all around the world. I now look back and cant imagine my life without t1d.. the accomplishments I’ve done, the dreams have, the unbelievable people I’ve be able to meet and connect with, the organizations I’ve worked with, the projects I’ve completed.. all thanks to t1d. And I wouldn’t have it any other way! Although a cure for this sucky disease would still be nice Thank YOU for supporting me, traveling on this journey with me, and being the dia-besties in my pocket This community means everything and i would not be the positive person i am today without it! We give each other wings to fly and I thank you for giving me the flight to keep living my life to the fullestHere’s to the next exciting years filled with adventures and breaking boundaries! #typeonetypehappy #happydiaversary #fabulousfive
SD Ollie teaching SDiT Louis ( @raisinglouis ) how to properly nap on the job! Normally my photos are of Ollie in more “photogenic” backgrounds besides a Jimmy Johns floor, but this picture was way too cute not to share!! Louis is the sweetest little thing, and is already crazy talented for a baby! ❤️
