We wanted to share with you to get a glimpse if you happen to know someone with the G6 or a CGM, want to learn about it, or even have it yourself!! “I saw the CGM on your arm, my brother is a type 1!” ✨ The wedding we went to on Saturday was the first time I’ve worn my Dexcom on my arm for a more formal occasion, in a place full of people I’ve never met before. It was a little nerve wracking I’ll be honest! I knew I would probably be the only T1D at the wedding and knew I might get some looks because of my arm sensor so I went in mentally prepared. Little did I know I would end up meeting the sister of a Type 1 who recognized I had T1D because she had seen a Dexcom before! Of course I couldn’t resist introducing her to @beyondtype1 and we ended up talking for a while about Type 1! It was such a fun, small-world connection to make all because I had my CGM out in the open! It can be hard to rock those cyborg parts openly but it can also be so beneficial! ✨ What are your thoughts on this? I’m cheesin’ hard because of a few things: . . . 1. I get to see my rad sister tomorrow ✌ 2. I cut off all my locks and starting this summer off with a fresh new do☀️ 3. I had a nice little date with my Endo today and I got some good news on my A1C results! - I was able to my A1C from 7.9% to 7.4% since February. During this time, I went through a double whammy of sickness, end-of-the-semester stress from school, and an Ecuador trip which were all things that skyrocketed my numbers. - However, for these past 2 months I’ve been at clinical, I’ve been able to devote time into my diabetes. I’ve been able to exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep and water, and eat nutritious healthy foods that help reduce those sugar spikes. I’ve even been able to reduce the overall amount of insulin I inject in my body due to my food choices. AND I FEEL GREAT! YAHOO! I was hoping for a better A1C value but I have to remind myself it’s an average and I should be proud of the downward trend. - Managing diabetes takes time and effort every day. I’ve been diabetic for almost 15 years now and I’m still learning this balance. Now that school is right around the corner, I need to continue these good habits so I can rock my next A1C reading, 3 months from now. - There are constant ups and downs (literally and figuratively) living with diabetes, but I can’t help but feel extremely grateful to have it a part of my life. It allows me to see a quantitative value of what stress, food and sleep does to the human body. I can’t stress enough to TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEMPLE ☀️because it works hard to keep you healthy. And don’t disrespect it because some of us would love to have your healthy, full functioning pancreas doing the behind the scenes work. How do you all feel about your diabetes? Are you diabetic proud or do you wish it would just go far far away and never come back? . . . Also, always and forever will love my @thetrendydiabetic shirt. It always is a great reminder that I’m living on insulin and happy thoughts ❤️
