#TBT The cover of my self-published version of my book, Meals That Heal Inflammation, involved 600 apples!It showed a bit too much skin to make it mainstream. The funny part is that the apples came right out of the fridge so it was exactly like going into an ice bath. Between smiles, my teeth were chattering. ❄I needed a 30-minute hot shower to recover but I sure liked the results. My husband, @alansmithlife, took the picture and he was so sweet to arrange each apple perfectly. #MealsThatHeal

Has golden milk won a place in your heart yet? It certainly has for me! ‍♀️ . As cooler evenings begin to flow through Toronto I can't help but get excited about the cozy feeling and the colour changes that come with the next season. I'm sure we still have plenty of summer sunshine left though. Regardless, here is an oh so comfy and healing recipe for you to try. . Anti-Inflammatory Golden Milk . Ingredients: 1 cup  unsweetened hemp or coconut beverage 1 tsp  turmeric, chopped (or 1/4 tsp dry) 1 tsp  ginger chopped (or 1/4 teaspoon dry) 1 tsp  raw honey . Optional: 1/8 tsp cardamom seeds (crushed) . Directions: 1. Add the milk and spices to small saucepan and heat gently until well infused on medium heat for 10 mins. 2. Keep the spices in if you want it strong or strain if you must. You can cut the strength with warm water or extra milk and sweeten with raw honey. . * Note: My recipe calls for fresh turmeric root (as opposed to the dried spice). The root contains natural oils which will enhance absorption and bioavailability. If you are using dried turmeric powder the recipe would need a pinch of black pepper to increase the bioavailability. Black pepper contains the active component piperine but it is also known to be inflammatory. In general, I do not recommend black pepper for most of my clients. #MealsThatHeal
