Walking into Thursday feeling vibrant, thankful, happy, and ready. . Watching my kids play is a privilege and I’m always doing my best to show gratitude for these beautiful moments with them. . Thank you for being apart of our playful world. Thank you for cheering me on and challenging me to be and do better. I promise, some of our play will get messy and I’ll have mom brain when I don’t have time for it but I hope our simple play inspires you or at least makes you smile. . I’m always trying to squeeze the most out of our playful ideas. 3 post back, I set up a “sibling dot-sticker flower”... this took me 5 minutes to create & provides 45 minutes of play & learning (it’s not fancy, but it is engaging & can be built upon ‍♀️). #simple_play ideas always win our hearts! . To add onto this activity, I added some contact paper (sticky side out) and let the girls decorate the flower with some crunchy paper (left over from Easter). Today’s #oursensoryspring prompt is garland. I’ve improvised here as the stuff I packed to bring to mums is in a box at home ‍♀️ I found a bit of wool and cut out some triangles from a colouring book then Logan and Izzie used paintsticks and pencil crayons to decorate them. Izzie found a few stickers and added those too. When I started sticking the triangles on both wanted to help me so they helped me to cut and press on the tape. Not particularly exciting but both were much more engaged than if I’d given them a colouring book. Izzie just enjoyed her mark making and Logan talked about the pictures and what colours he was using. We went out on an ‘adventure ‘ to the botanical gardens today to look for some buds. Ned is nestled in our foraging basket amongst the treasures Logan collected. We looked at some lovely buds, flowers and bugs and Logan now understands the buds open up into beautiful flowers. The children also made friends and went exploring with them. ———————————————————————— ❤️RIBBONS❤️————————————————————————My little girl really enjoys watching, grabbing & scrunching toys especially brightly coloured ones so I thought this week’s prompts of ribbons & bright colours would be a perfect time to make her a sensory toy! ————————————————————————- I tied ribbons to a coat hanger & then laid them in front of her for tummy time & hung them on her play gym when she was on her back. She was transfixed on the colours for a long time and enjoyed grabbing and pulling on them, some ended up in her mouth too for a little bit! This was a really quick and simple baby play activity I would definitely recommend! Because kids universally LOVE BUGS, we are approaching bug season, so it’s a book they will be engaged with. . I have a little secret, I don’t love bugs so my background about bugs, is pretty limited.... But I have good news ‍♀️ , after reading this book, I feel like I actually learned a TON about the little critters in our own backyard. . 1 thing I learned, not all insects are actually “bugs”. The book explains the difference, check out this sneak peek... . “True Bugs: insects and other creepy-crawlies are often called bugs. But bugs are actually just one type of insect...Bugs look a lot like beetles, but they have sucking mouthparts.
