Winter decide to show it’s face here today in Ottawa (hopefully for the last time ). We went outside for about 15 minutes, everyone was grumpy (including myself ), so we came in. It was the perfect day to try out our new Active World Tray. I didn’t have anything planned ahead, so I just grabbed some coffee beans, bowls, cups, spoons, and let the kids have at it! This tray was really awesome for containing everything- we all had fun making coffee for each other, muffins, and just doing some good old scooping and dumping . Tray from @scholarschoice. . . . Yesterday in Ontario, Bill 66 passed. What this means for home day care providers is that now instead of only being allowed 2 children under the age of 2 years, we will be able to have 3 children under 2 years. Also, a provider’s own children won’t count in their ratio once they turn 4. A lot of providers are celebrating this; more children =more money. (The total amount of children remains the same at 5 for unlicensed and 6 for licensed through an agency) . . Well, I for one did not pursue this line of work to get rich. While my 4 year old may not “count” in my ratios with this new bill, he’s still there. Still a little person who needs my attention, my support in his development, and my love. Just as all the children in my care do. I love the peacefulness of our days (yes it absolutely gets a bit crazy at times too) but there’s no amount of money you could pay me to take on more kids (technically I could have SEVEN ), to created a chaotic environment that none of us would enjoy. I’m quite happy with my low ratios. ‍♀️ . . What are your thoughts on the new bill with respect to home daycare? . .
