Late afternoon a big truck pulled up outside our doors with a myriad of Grimm’s treasures inside for little (and big ) Australians. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Old favourites are back, and much sought after and eagerly awaited items too a - the Counter Rotating Stepped Spiral, the big blue truck with tiles, the Assembly Ball Run and of course Stepped Pyramids. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Honeybee Team will now be working into the wee hours of the morning to unpack it all and have it ready for orders to start going out on Monday. Once upon a time there was a rainbow... ⠀ ⠀ "Our Grimm’s Rainbow has been in our family for ten years. It started as nursery decor,then it became a stacking toy and a color sorting toy. Now our rainbow lives in our playroom, where it sets the stage for countless hours of imaginary play. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ My oldest child uses our rainbow to balance, sculpt, and make marble runs. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ My middle child loves our Grimm’s Rainbow for the color and design aspects. She spends her time organizing our collection of Grimm’s Wooden Toys by shape and color, setting up beautiful patterns and contrasting colors. She marries the sets together beautifully, creating new opportunities to play with shape and design every time. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ My little one is sorting, counting, balancing and practicing trial and error. She builds beautiful backdrops for rich dramatic play, in which she processes her life-experiences. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ The beauty of these open-ended toys is that they do not expire. As the children grow, the toys move with them. Because of their open-ended nature, these materials are able to meet the child where he or she is in their own individual stage of development. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ These toys do not think for your child. They do not play for your child. The magic is in what your child brings to the toy.⠀ ⁣⠀ There is something about these enchanting handmade toys that makes me think they absorb the stories of the children that use them.
