This is my new favorite play hack! I got the idea from @prettyplaypoppy who did an Easter egg version (who got the idea from @playtime.messy.madness!) and it couldn’t be easier- just hot glue designs on a toilet paper roll to make a patterned rolling pin for playdough! I made a mermaid scale pattern for this one, but I’m also thinking we can get some dragon play out of it too. To go with the imprint roll, I gave her three marbled playdough colors (i.e. I didn’t mix the color all the way ), some sea shells, evergreen twigs that I thought could pass as seaweed, and some metallic golden painted curly pasta from an old sensory bin that we used as magical undersea space worms. I was thinking about giving her sand to mix in, but decided my coffee was not strong enough for that impending mess. Making the books more accessible has really appealed to Lyla and now she’s reading more than ever! She’s such a little book worm If I were to tag where most of these beautiful things are from, my tag would have to be #besthusbandever or #hesawaybettermumthaniam My husband made this shelf, the abacus and even painted the toys. He’s so brilliant Not to mention, he toilet trained our 22 month old over his annual leave!! We will miss having him around so much

With Jasper getting bigger and more mobile, I’m looking at bigger play structures for him. I love this one from camdenrose.com. I feel like you can create a special private little space for a toddler in there. • I’m observing that it can be a challenge to keep what I want for Jasper in check. I’ve also been itching to get him a large pickler ladder to climb on. I’m feeling now that two structures may be to much? I’m hoping to keep his spaces, clean simple and organized. I’ve been thinking about nature journals. I’ve been thinking about nature journals for children and for grown-ups and for families to collaborate on. I’ve been thinking about the age old way of drawing a picture and doing some writing at the bottom of the page and how I’m sure we can mix things up a bit. I’m thinking about all the other ways that a nature journal could be kept. If a nature journal is a place to record our explorations then we can open up the pages and invite the endless possibilities of nature exploration to join us? I’ve got so many ideas of how we could do that. How we could really use the nature journal as a tool for genuine exploration and deep learning. And I’m pretty excited to explore and share those ideas with you. But what I’d like to know is this - would you like to keep a nature journal, if there was a creative and fun way of doing it?
