Took off my socks and braved the cool air for a quick photo of my new trousers. I spent my Saturday night sewing another pair of Terra pants, seeing as I wear my other ones so much. These ones are is a lighter weight denim I had put aside for something else but this was a much better use of it. I love the shape of these so much, I actually have another pair cut and waiting to be sewn. And we’re done*! This is the @burda_style 03/2014 #128 rain cape which was inspired by the always rad @missceliespants. The cheerful raincoat fabric is from @wearethefabricstore and the eleven billion notions and interfacing are from all over the place. This was a labour of love and with lots of interesting steps and things to learn. I mean, check out that ace hood and those pearl snaps! Now to make Beanie a matching rain coat so her walks will be super stylish! ☔️ *all that’s left is to waterproof seal the seams tomorrow!

Today was the first beach day of the season and I’ve been ready for it for over a month! Can you guess the pattern I used for the shorts? • Pants: yes! #peppermintwidelegpants by @inthefolds If I love this pattern as pants let me tell you that as shorts is madness!!! The only pair of shorts I’ve ever had that didn’t ride up my inner thighs. Every time I wear them I can’t even believe it. I used a thrifted denim that has some stretch so I had to put a couple of dart ls in the front as well. Top: hacked #seamworkariel in a linen/cotton blend from @fabriclandontario The original project from this fabric didn’t work out for me and I gave it away. I loved the fabric but just had some small pieces left. I had enough to cut the front piece and the back is made out of 7!!!! different pieces sew together. All that was left was a few tiny pieces. Ginger Jeans!! I’m finally part of the jeans-making club! I’m actually doing the jeans making workshop at @campstitchsydney in November but I couldn’t bear to wait, especially through winter so I though I would have a go to get the basics and then refine my technique at camp. The pattern from @closetcase.patterns and fabric from @blackbirdfabrics was purchased last year and I finally felt I had the confidence and tools to tackle this. I pretty much made a straight size 6 with a slightly shortened leg and the fit seems good. After wearing them all afternoon the only thing I’ve noticed is the yoke has a little excess fabric but otherwise they feel great! I also purchased a jeans kit from @maaidesign. I think they were easier than expected. It helped I had a second machine set up for topstitching. Can’t wait to make more pants, it’s so satisfying!
