Another week is here, where you have the strongest community in the world behind you EVERY step of the way! #friendswithcrohns ❤️ Repost ・・・ this is the reality of chronic illness. • pain and fatigue and an overall feeling of sickness. hospital beds and ivs and nausea. when you look an absolute mess but you don’t care at all because all you want is to feel better. this is what chronic illness warriors go through almost everyday, this is the reality behind our invisible illnesses. if people don’t see my bag or see my prescriptions or understand the depth of what my illness means, they would never know anything was wrong with me, but this is my reality. • most of my friends spent their summer partying, swimming, going on vacations, and more, while i spent my summer in a hospital bed or stuck at home trying to recover. and while i’m happy that i’m on the road to recovery, and i’m grateful to be getting back to my own definition of normal, i have to remind myself that it’s okay to get angry and it’s okay to feel sad for myself, because if i didn’t i wouldn’t be human. so i let myself grieve for my colon, and be upset that life isn’t always easy, but then i get myself up and push forward, because i won’t let colitis hold me back. • stay strong warriors☀️

Lucy has been revised and I am so grateful of how everything turned out. Unfortunately, I had to go to the ED 3 days prior to my surgery because I was having horrible pain, nausea and vomiting. So of course I panicked since I thought it was a blockage and it wasn’t they found inflammation around my stoma (Lucy) and the CT Scan also showed inflammation in other parts of my small intestine. They admitted me and didn’t want me to go home in case things got bad. So a simple laparoscopic surgery turned into a major surgery where he had to go in and explore to see where else there was inflammation. This morning my surgeon came in to see me and said there was no inflammation anywhere else but around the stoma area and he removed about 6 inches of where the inflammation was. All I can say is God is good! Even though I had this surgery I am feeling good. Am I in pain? YESSS. But this is part of living with a chronic illness one minute you are feeling great and next minute you find yourself in the ED in pain wanting to scream because you feel your insides twisting. Having a prolapse was the worst thing I have experienced while having my ostomy. And trust me I’ve had a few complications that were pretty bad. I hope I don’t get any more prolapse. Ran a 10K! ‍♀️ • Last year I walked it, this year I ran with a walk intermission after mile 3! It took me 26 years of my life to be able to run the whole thing before I got sick, now 1 and 1/2 years after surgery I’m working my way back up to that! Still not quite there but very proud of everything my body can do, even after all it’s been through!
