HELP THE TINGLING IN YOUR FINGERS!! (Taking a break from the core series to address requests) • Carpal tunnel has affected a lot of office workers. It is a median nerve irritation and can cause numbness, tingling, and pain in the first three fingers. True carpal tunnel happens due to nerve irritation at the wrist as it passes through the tunnel of wrist bones, the carpals, hence the name. But the symptoms can also be caused by issues further up the arm or neck⚡ Working with this can be tough because it can be localized solely to the wrist or it can have neck or even elbow and forearm involvement. So I tend to address this by trying to find sensitizing factors and modify those as well as do some things to make it feel better when symptoms arise! • A professional assessment is always warranted for this as so many people jump to wrist surgery immediately. Whether the issue arising from the neck, elbow, forearm or wrist, the median nerve is involved. • The first video has 3 variations of a median nerve floss or glide. It gets the nerve moving and desensitizing and can reduce the symptoms for a lot of people. Never push into anything painful. Keep it light and keep it moving. • In the second video, we are looking at two awesome stretches. Try this prayer stretch and the wrist extension/flexion stretches to really stretch your forearms! • Consider things like stress and lack of sleep. I don't think it's any coincidence that this pops up a lot in work environments and a lot of my patients notice it gets worse when they are stressed at work. • Don’t rush the process. Set a goal! Complete each exercise for 30-60 seconds and you'll feel a big change! Tag any friends/family who may struggle with carpal tunnel syndrome!

Big Toe Mobility + Plantar Fasciitis with the @acumobility ball and Floss Band with Coach @movement.with.meghan. Many cases of plantar fasciitis can be caused by limited mobility in the big toe, this exercise is awesome because it addresses both areas! Start by placing the ball under the plantar fascia of the foot with the heel planted on the ground. Then wrap a Floss Band under the big toe only, with the band pulling the toe up and away from the other toes. Drive pressure of the foot onto the ball as you extend the toes up. Use the Band to give extra pull to the big toe up. This is especially helpful when you have poor big toe extension and control. Do a set of 10 Toe extensions and pull the big toe only at end range of your mobility to give it a stretch. Follow this up by doing a set of 10 toe extensions without the ball and Floss - to help pattern this mobility into your movement. Do this a few times a week to improve mobility, and it can be done before activity to improve performance or after to improve recovery! . . . ⚠️this exercise is not intended to diagnose or treat any condition. FIX YOUR SNAPPING SCAPULA SYNDROME AKA SCAPULOTHORACIC SYNDROME/ BURSITIS . Snapping Scapula Syndrome can occur for a few reasons, ranging from the 'snapping' of tight rotator cuff muscles (subscapularis) over rib joints, to the scapular muscles snapping over bursas in the area causing pain. Bursas are sacs of fluid that lie between adjacent bones, tendons, or muscles to allow fluid movement. With repetitive rubbing of structures over these bursa, they can become inflammed(& friction between tissues increase), producing the classic snap & pain with movement. The main culprits are the subscapularis and the serratus anterior. Today we'll focus on the serratus anterior. . As the serratus anterior muscle atrophies (becomes thinner), the amount of space between the scapula and rib cage decreases. This will increase the likelihood of the scapula to rub against the bursa or rib cage. A cardinal sign that the serratus anterior is involved is medial border scapular winging. So if you have both, and the rotator cuff is healthy, this may be what's going on. . To start, we work on thoracic mobility, scapulothoracic dissociation (ability to move the scapula without moving the glenohumeral joint or thoracic spine), and serratus anterior hypertrophy / strength training. . ➡️ Passive Thoracic Extension ➡️ Active Thoracic Extension - we start by increasing flexibility passively then mobility actively. It's important to engage the core in the active exercises to minimize rib flaring. . ➡️ Scapulothoracic Dissociative Arm Raises - This exercises focuses on moving the scapulothoracic joint and glenohumeral joint in isolation from thoracic extension. . ➡️ Elevated Push Up Plus ➡️ Single Arm Elevated Push Up Plus ➡️ KB T-Bar Thrusts - All 3 of these exercises work to strengthen the serratus anterior & to dissociate scapula movement from thoracic and glenohumeral movement. 2 birds with 1 stone. . .
