i relate to this hardddd. one time at an old job they asked me if i was making sickness up (unrelated to diabetes) but no i wasn’t. plus the diabetes was making me feel worse because my sugar was running 300+ at that time.

✨5TH DiAVERSARY✨
For the past five years, I ignored or mourned my diaversary. It was something that happened to me, something that prevented me from doing the million things I used to do, something that made my life worse. For the past year, I not only slowly joined the T1D community and began to advocate at a new level, I also recognized the kind of person that T1D helped me to become. While I was always one to fight for those who had quieter voices and regularly put others before myself, T1D forced me to fight for my own life day in and day out, and I now recognize that strength, that power, that self-love, that RESILIENCE. This year, I am blowing out these candles and making a wish for improvement in my overall health and T1D management, as well as every new milestone that is to come in this next year of my life journey with T1D. None of this will come for free, but I know that I am fully capable and willing to put in the hard work I need to. So, happy 5th diaversary to me. I plan to make these candles and wish a tradition for each year after this, so that I never forget how something so dark could be such a blessing. Thank you for the huge part you all have played in my flawed, yet beautiful growth with T1D.

12/31 Honestly, at this point I just let people talk until they wear themselves out on it. Lol! The general public doesn't really understand the difference between type 1 and 2, and mostly you hear about type 2, so it makes sense that they're confused. What really gets me is when I have people who are related to a type 1 that still think they know more than me when I've been dealing with it for almost 25 years. My Diabetes is older than your child, please just stop.

A bit of T1 talk this evening ✨ on my arm is my dexcom, which many of you have seen before. It’s a needle that I shoot into my arm, clip a transmitter on it, and I change it out every 10 days. It reads my blood sugar levels 24/7 and sends all the data to my phone. It’s literally life changing technology and helps keep me alive on a daily basis. It does this by alerting me when I’m going low or high- most importantly through the night. It wakes me up with an alarm so I can sort myself out; or if I am past that point of helping myself, someone else will hear it and can help me. In the last box of sensors/needles (you get 3 in a box), 2 were faulty and meant I had to change them out earlier than the usual 10 day period. The last one in the box (pictured) expired this morning, after a full 10 days use but technically earlier than it should have been due to the previous faulty sensors. My next shipment of Dex supplies isn’t until 18/07. This filled me with anxiety because that would be at least 5 days with no dexcom in my arm, no continuous blood glucose monitoring. I still check my bloods with finger pricks and my glucometer throughout the day, but it’s the night time that scares me most having to rely on sporadic finger pricks. I realised that while I am so grateful every day for this tech, I have become mentally reliant on it. I’m terrified of my blood sugar levels and how they are now. I need dexcom as a crutch to help me with my diabetes, and I’m not ashamed admit that. 10 days ago I emailed dexcom explaining the situation, asking for any advice/help as I knew I would run out of supplies before my next shipment. No response, so today I called and by tomorrow afternoon, I will have a sensor in my arm again to see me through til my next shipment... absolutely incredible customer service and such an easy process! Just had to answer a few questions about my last sensors and what the issues were, and now I only have to have one night without my dex in my arm rather than 5+ so big up @dexcom for being really awesome with their users and here’s hoping to a good night tonight & a more successful time moving forward with new sensors✨
Despite looking pretty normal, my sugars have been a roller coaster today ! I was 4 one minute and 11 the next. God I love this heat
The small target range of 4 to 8 was defiantly not being met!
This diabetic was extremely frustrated!
Also love one pierces now, not as many stares

Exercise is such an important part of living with Type1, but it's hard to have consistency so that blood sugars are predictable!
.
I've found hiking and getting out for daily bike rides to be the most effective for increasing my insulin sensitivity, but it's nearly winter in SLC and it's hard to get out for the long weekly hikes that are so beneficial. Sadly, yoga hasn't had much impact on blood sugar.
.
What exercise routines work best for you?
