Finished my first @closetcase.patterns #charliecaftan and I love it! May still make a few more fitting tweaks to the next one (mostly so’s I don’t flash anyone ) but this one will get LOTS of wear. And of course #ithaspockets! (Props for the awesome tag to @kylieandthemachine)⁣ ⁣ #sewmysize: This is a size 16 shoulder/bust with a 3” FBA, blended to a size 20 hip between the bottom of the armscye curve to the second notch. Also removed about 1.5” above the bust (just below the bottom of the neckline). Next time I will raise the neckline a smidge and straighten the front hem. Interrupting my ‘regularly scheduled’ Lenox or Upton new dress posts to bring you yet another @cashmerette dress, this time the new Holyoke Dress pattern. Despite this pattern being released as I’m coming into winter, and my opportunities for wearing strappy maxi-dresses in the near future being, hmmm... infrequent, shall we say I somehow found myself buying the pattern as soon as it was released and unearthing some light weight quilting cotton from deep stash to give it a whirl... very definition of queue jumping!!! I’ll admit I was skeptical that the bodice on this dress was going to fit, and cover what it needed to cover - but not only does it fit, but I made NO ADJUSTMENTS to the pattern... Hi friends!!! It’s been a while. HOW THE HECK HAVE YOU BEEN As it’s #memademay2019, I couldn’t resist showing you all this 100% cotton gingham power suit I finished just today. Up top we’ve got a cropped version of @_diydaisy’s low-waste rectangle ruffle peplum top (free pattern on her blog!) and cream pom pom earrings. On the bottom, @namedclothing #ninniculottes. Special thanks to: @amycommand3r for being my sewing partner in crime; @firecrackerfabrics for the materials; and @fat.bobbin.girl for talking top options with me. This is the first top I’ve ever made and I’m so proud of this whole look. It is indeed a privilege to have already had many of the things I needed to construct these pieces (i.e., sewing machine, pins, supportive/creative friendship, vacation time from work, funds to buy the rest). This look cost $80 and about 10 hours to make from start to finish. I’m already itching to get back on the sewing machine. For my entire life minus the past 6 months, I refused to wear shirts that didn’t go past my hips. Sewing has been such a therapeutic hobby for me.
