Remember my red&pink #nightgownchic dress from a week ago? Well that was my second time using that pattern. Here was my first version and it’s the flowy breezy dress of my summer dreams! I took one of my paintings and turned it into fabric with @spoonflower (available in my shop— link in profile), bought 3 yards of it printed on chiffon and sewed this @mccallpatterncompany #m7834 dress This has the view “ A”collar but I pinned a (removable) bow on top for drama. The sleeves are a cropped version of view “A” as well. . . I wore this to the #tabithamademedoit @tabithasewer meetup (and even slept in it thst night bc it really is like a nightgown!) and I will be wearing it again to my 20 year high school reunion this month! PEACHY DRESS Vogue pattern #v9253 in this scrumptious, crisp poplin that just wants to stand up on its own but also bends with you with its 5% elasticity. It’s a dream to sew, but wouldn’t hurt to give it an iron. I can’t wear this anywhere but this hotel room sofa until I figure out a cami or stitch it up! (Oops, forgot a view; it’s in stories) AND. Just the pattern I needed. When I first saw @common_stitch Pipit Loungewear Set I know I wanted to make it. And I already have plans to make more tops because the top is my summer style: relaxed and airy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What I liked: it was a quick sew (two nights), the shape of the top: the SLEEVES and the neckline. What I changed: originally the elastic is built into the shorts (no added waistband). When I tried them on, the crotch was uncomfortable. I could have done a crotch adjustment but I decided to add a separate waistband. I also used interfacing at the collar (which the pattern offers as an option). What I will change next time: the sleeve has an added trim at the hem. Next time I will lengthen the sleeve for a uniform hem. This is one of my most resourceful projects to date: Levi’s Men’s Jeans reused in @megannielsenpatterns MN Dawn Jeans. For the past year and a half I’ve been searching for a pair of Levi’s high-waisted, tapered leg, light-wash denim but I could never find the perfect fit. I had completely given up searching until I saw @adaspragg recent reused jeans project. I was completely inspired to continue my search. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A few weeks ago, I came across a well-loved pair of Levi’s men jeans at a local @goodwill and it was kismet. In this jeans find I scored the necessary fabric, hardware and ready cut pieces to make my coveted jeans. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Honestly the process was not hard—a little tedious, yes. I deconstructed the legs, yoke, zippers, zipper extension, carriers, almost everything, but I kept the pockets, and pocket bags intact. The pockets front and back are in there original position (I oriented the pattern as such). Basically I cut alway the inner parts of the pants in order to keep most of the distressing on the outer leg. I had to reinforce the right inner back pocket due to a small hole, as well as the lower crotch to prevent later rips due to already worn and thin fabric. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This whole project turned out better than I expected. This is why I love sewing!
